Former NBR member Matiur Rahman has been taken into custody

Former NBR member Matiur Rahman, who gained notoriety due to his son's goat scandal, was arrested on Tuesday in the Bashundhara area of the capital.

Both he and his wife, former upazila chairman Layla Kaniz, were taken into custody by the DB (Detective Branch) of DMP, according to a report from UNB.

DMP's DC, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the arrest, though he did not provide further details regarding the couple's detention amid ongoing corruption allegations.

Matiur had retired early last year following accusations of corruption that emerged after his son purchased a goat for Tk1.5 million during the Eid-ul-Azha festival.
