Army cautions against misuse of its name in the 'jhut business'
The army urges people to report any attempts to misuse its name to offer illegal facilities.
The Bangladesh Army has called for public support to curb fraudulent activities involving the misuse of its name in the jhut (unused fabric from garment factories) business.
In a media statement issued on Friday morning, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) urged vigilance against such deception.
The statement noted that some dishonest groups have been misusing the names of senior army officials to promote jhut-related business dealings and engage in illegal activities within industrial zones, damaging the reputation of the armed forces.
The army emphasized its commitment to maintaining law and order and fostering a production-friendly environment in industrial areas. It clarified that facilitating jhut or other business ventures is not part of its official duties.
The public is requested to report any attempts to misuse the army’s name for illegal activities by contacting the following mobile numbers: 01769091020, 01769095198, and 01769095209.
