RAB Director General says there is no security threat ahead of Pahela Baishakh.
The Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Additional Inspector General Md Ahsan Habib Palash, has said there is no security threat surrounding the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
He made the statement on Monday morning (13 April) after inspecting RAB’s security arrangements at Ramna Batamul in the capital.
The RAB chief said comprehensive security measures have been put in place at key celebration venues, including Shahbagh, TSC, Hatirjheel, Manik Mia Avenue and Ramna Batamul. Screening checkpoints and observation posts have been established to ensure public safety.
He added that RAB’s bomb disposal unit and dog squad are actively conducting operations. Nationwide, control rooms, checkpoints and CCTV surveillance systems have been deployed to maintain overall security during the festivities. He also noted that RAB is on alert to prevent eve-teasing and sexual harassment.
He expressed hope that this year’s Bangla New Year celebrations would be more joyful than in previous years.
