Prime Minister says the government is committed to empowering women and ensuring equal access to education.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today reiterated that his government is committed to expanding women’s education, promoting women’s empowerment, and ensuring equal access to education for women.
“The government is working to broaden opportunities for women’s education and guarantee their empowerment and equal access to learning… To this end, it is actively considering the nationalisation of one women’s college in every upazila sadar,” he said.
The remarks came in response to a tabled question from treasury bench lawmaker Ekramul Bari Tipu of Naogaon-4 during a parliamentary session chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram.
Replying to the lawmaker, the prime minister said the government would gradually move to nationalise eligible educational institutions, including Manda Thana Adarsha Girls' School and College in Naogaon, in line with existing policies and subject to the availability of required funds.
