One child has died from measles and eight others from related complications in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the nine deaths recorded, six occurred in the Dhaka division.

Since 15 March, the nationwide death toll from measles has reached 31, while fatalities linked to measles-like symptoms have risen to 164.

Between 8:00am Monday and 8:00am Tuesday, a total of 1,105 children were identified with measles symptoms or suspected infections, including 485 cases in the Dhaka division. During the same period, 698 children were hospitalised, of whom 290 were in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, 176 confirmed measles cases were reported nationwide, with 157 detected in the Dhaka division.

Over the same 24-hour period, 935 hospitalised children recovered from measles or related symptoms. Chattogram division recorded the highest number of recoveries with 258 discharges, followed by Rajshahi division with 89, and Dhaka division with 79.

Since 15 March, a total of 18,129 children have been diagnosed with measles symptoms or suspected cases across the country, including 11,652 who required hospitalisation. The number of confirmed measles cases stands at 2,897, while 9,304 children have recovered and returned home after treatment.
