The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed across 11 flood-affected districts to carry out rescue operations, provide temporary shelter, distribute relief supplies, deliver emergency medical care and help restore damaged communication networks.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the paramilitary force said its personnel are operating in Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Chattogram, Feni, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Jamalpur, where heavy rainfall, hill runoff, flooding and landslides have caused widespread disruption.

According to the release, BGB has set up 90 observation points across the affected districts and is monitoring the flood situation around the clock to ensure swift rescue operations and humanitarian assistance whenever needed.

So far, BGB has rescued more than 600 people from 122 families, including 116 tourists, in flood-hit areas of Bandarban. The rescued people have been provided with temporary shelter, food and emergency medical treatment, while 48 people have received emergency healthcare services.

The force has also helped restore traffic on the Bandarban-Rumaingchhari road by clearing uprooted trees and debris left by the floods.

In Naikhongchhari, BGB personnel have taken emergency measures to protect a steel bridge threatened by soil erosion, ensuring safe movement for local residents.

BGB said its rescue, relief, medical and other humanitarian operations will continue until the flood situation returns to normal.
