Trump says renewed US campaign against Iran will be short-lived

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the renewed US military campaign against Iran would not continue for “too long,” following the most intense exchange of fire between Washington and Tehran since July.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said US forces had destroyed a rocket Iran was developing to deploy mines. He also claimed that Iranian efforts to rebuild radar and missile systems had been targeted in the latest US strikes.

“We took out all of the new equipment that they tried to build along the Strait of Hormuz — some defensive, some offensive,” Trump said, describing the operation as a “very heavy attack.” He added that the US was prepared to launch another strike “any time we want.”
