Tragic Incident in Faridpur: Bus Falls into Ditch, Claims Five Lives
Nearly 40 people were travelling in the bus
Five people lost their lives and at least 35 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch in Faridpur Sadar Upazila. The tragic accident occurred around 11:15 AM on Tuesday, in front of Bakhunda Sharif Jute Mill along the Faridpur-Barisal highway. The identities of the deceased and the injured have not yet been confirmed.
Md. Nazrul Islam, Senior Station Officer of the Faridpur Fire Service, confirmed the incident. As per local sources and fire service personnel, the bus named "Hidex" was en route from Tekerhat to Faridpur when the driver reportedly lost control, leading the vehicle to plunge into a ditch. Rescue operations were immediately launched by nearby residents and fire service teams.
According to Station Officer Md. Nazrul Islam, approximately 40 passengers were on board at the time. Among them, five were declared dead, while 35 others sustained injuries—many in critical condition. The injured were promptly shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for medical treatment.
