Tarique set to visit northern districts on a four-day tour
BNP said the Election Commission’s Code of Conduct will be strictly followed and not violated under any circumstances during the tour.
BNP has announced a four-day tour of its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to several northern districts from January 11 to 14. During the visit, he will travel to Tangail, Sirajganj, Bogura, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram.
The schedule was made public on Wednesday through a press release signed by ABM Abdus Sattar, personal secretary to the BNP Acting Chairman.
The party said the Election Commission’s Code of Conduct will be strictly observed throughout the tour. Necessary applications have already been submitted to the Election Commission, as well as to the respective deputy commissioners and district and upazila election officers.
According to the itinerary, on January 11, after completing programmes in Dhaka, Tarique Rahman will exchange views with party leaders and activists in Gazipur, Tangail and Sirajganj before heading to Bogura.
On January 12, starting from Bogura, he will take part in organisational programmes in Rangpur, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon. In Rangpur, he is also scheduled to pay homage and offer prayers at the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, who was killed during the July–August mass uprising.
On January 13, the BNP Acting Chairman will hold meetings and exchange views with party leaders and activists in Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram.
On the final day, January 14, he will attend several programmes in Rangpur and Bogura before returning to Dhaka.
During the tour, Tarique Rahman will visit the graves of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Taiba Majumder and other martyrs of the July movement and the democratic struggle, and will also pay courtesy visits to their families.
