Rumour Scanner has confirmed that the viral video involving a Jamaat MP is authentic.
Fact-checking organisation Rumour Scanner has determined that a viral personal video involving Jamaat-e-Islami MP Gazi Nazrul Islam is authentic and was not generated or manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI).
The organisation shared its findings in a post on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday.
Rumour Scanner said numerous social media users had claimed that the video featuring Gazi Nazrul Islam, the Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker for Satkhira-4, was AI-generated. However, its investigation found no evidence to support those claims.
According to the fact-checking organisation, an analysis of the full-length video revealed no visual inconsistencies or audio anomalies suggesting AI manipulation or digital fabrication. After examining the video's individual elements in detail, Rumour Scanner concluded that the footage was genuine.
The video triggered widespread discussion on social media after going viral. Jamaat-e-Islami had initially claimed that the footage was fake and AI-generated.
However, after independent fact-checking organisations determined that the video was authentic, the district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami said the woman seen in the footage was the MP's second wife.
