Govt to Avoid Bank Borrowing, Money Printing for Next Budget: Salehuddin

Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed on Tuesday assured that the upcoming national budget will not be financed through bank borrowing or money printing. Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Adviser's Council on Government Purchase at the Bangladesh Secretariat, he emphasized that the budget will feature a realistic Annual Development Program (ADP), avoiding large-scale mega projects reliant on borrowing.

Dr. Ahmed also addressed concerns over the recent structural changes to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), stating that the separation into two divisions will not negatively impact revenue collection. "So far, revenue collection has increased by 2.0 percent compared to last year. It's not disappointing—I expect even more. At the very least, it won't fall below last year's level," he added.
