Five children die with measles-like symptoms within 24 hours

Five children exhibiting measles-like symptoms died in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Thursday.

No deaths from confirmed measles were reported during the same period, according to the latest update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The ongoing outbreak infected 1,119 people over the past 24 hours, including 154 confirmed measles cases and 965 others with measles-like symptoms. Of those affected, 902 were admitted to hospitals for treatment.

Since 15 March, a total of 724 children have died from confirmed measles and measles-related symptoms.

Over the same period, 102,993 people have developed measles-like symptoms, while 12,286 cases have been confirmed as measles.
