Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed personnel at 2,727 Durga Puja mandaps across the country to ensure security during the upcoming festivities.

Additionally, 21 base camps have been established to strengthen security operations in remote areas.

BGB Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Morshed disclosed the information at a press conference at the BGB headquarters on Friday morning.

He said BGB personnel are providing security at 1,425 puja mandaps in border areas.

To improve coordination and monitor the overall security situation, the force has launched the “Sharadiya Surokkha App” and established a dedicated monitoring cell.

BGB also urged the public to verify information before sharing unverified reports or provocative content on social media.

Meanwhile, the force said efforts were underway to bring back two Bangladeshi police personnel detained by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Brahmanpara border in Cumilla.

Mahbub Morshed said discussions were ongoing regarding the detention of the two officers near the Shashidal border and expressed hope that they would be returned to Bangladesh soon.

The two personnel from Brahmanpara Police Station were detained by the BSF after crossing the border into Indian territory.

As of Friday afternoon, they had not yet been returned to Bangladesh.
