Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Susan Ryle, today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser, AKM Shamsul Islam, at his office in Dhaka Cantonment.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed Bangladesh-Australia bilateral relations, with a particular focus on strengthening defence ties, exchanging expertise and exploring new avenues for military cooperation.

They reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing the longstanding friendship between the two countries and reviewed opportunities to expand defence and security collaboration.

The discussions also covered training, capacity building, professional development and broader engagement between the armed forces of the two nations.

Both sides highlighted the importance of continued cooperation in advancing regional and global peace, stability and security, and expressed optimism about taking bilateral relations to a higher level based on mutual trust, respect and shared interests.

The High Commissioner was accompanied by a three-member Australian delegation.
