The BFIU has frozen the bank accounts of Shakib Al Hasan and his wife

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has instructed banks and financial institutions to freeze the accounts of prominent cricketer and former Awami League lawmaker Shakib Al Hasan, his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir, and several associates.
The BFIU issued these directives to relevant banks at the end of last month. Previously, the BFIU had requested bank details for seven individuals, including Shakib and his wife. Following an analysis of these details, evidence of unusual transactions was identified, leading to the decision to freeze their accounts. The freeze will initially last for 30 days, with the possibility of an extension.
Shakib Al Hasan, currently in the United States and facing legal issues, was expected to join the national team for the Test series against South Africa. However, he returned to the U.S. from Dubai at the last minute.
