Amir Hossain Amu has been taken into custody

Former minister and Awami League advisory council member Hossain Amu has been arrested by the police.
He was apprehended from a house in the West Dhanmondi area of the city around 1:30 PM on Wednesday.
Mohammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations for the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed Amu's arrest to Prothom Alo. He stated that Amu is facing charges in 15 cases, including a murder case. Amu had also served as the coordinator of the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League.
Following the ousting of her government, Awami League president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India. Since then, several Awami League leaders have been arrested, while others have sought refuge in India.
