Jamaat Ameer collects nomination papers for the Dhaka-15 constituency

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Thursday collected nomination papers to contest the 13th parliamentary election from the Dhaka-15 constituency.

According to officials, a delegation led by Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair submitted the papers at the Returning Officer’s office in Agargaon, Dhaka. Dhaka Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer Md Yunus Ali confirmed the submission, noting that the nomination papers were filed on behalf of Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.

Candidates are required to submit their nomination papers to the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer by 29 December for the 12 February election.

Since the election schedule was announced on 11 December, at least a dozen prospective candidates, including BNP’s Shafikul Islam Khan Milton, have collected nomination papers for the Dhaka-15 seat.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Mawlana Muhammad Mamunul Haque and Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Bobby Hajjaj also collected nomination papers on Thursday to contest from the Dhaka-13 constituency.
