Ishraque to Make Final Announcement on Resignation at 2pm

State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain has said he will announce his final decision regarding his resignation at the National Press Club in Dhaka at 2pm on Monday.

He disclosed the plan in a post on his verified Facebook page. Expressing disappointment over celebratory reactions from some social media users, Ishraque said he hoped they would participate in future movements, if necessary, guided by nationalist ideals. He also vowed to intensify his anti-drug campaign even if he relinquished his position as state minister.

“Not as a member of parliament or state minister, but as a BNP activist, I will work with a hundred times more enthusiasm against drugs,” he wrote.

Ishraque further pledged to strengthen cleanliness drives and visit districts across the country to enhance the organisational capacity of the Projonmo Dal.

“Not minister, eradicate drugs! Eradicate drugs, eradicate drugs!” he added.
