Democratic journey begins with election: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that Bangladesh has embarked on a new democratic journey following the recently concluded national election.

He made the remarks after attending an iftar programme organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday evening.

The prime minister arrived at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital at around 5:30pm to join the event.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “At this crucial moment for the country, we have come together. Through the election, the path of democracy has begun.” He added, “The people have placed high expectations on us. Let us pledge in the name of Allah to work in the coming days to transform the lives of our citizens. May Allah grant us the strength to serve the people of this country.”

Leaders and activists of Jamaat, along with invited guests, were present at the iftar programme.
