Bangladeshi national killed in Iranian missile strike in Bahrain
A Bangladeshi expatriate from Sandwip has been killed in a missile strike in Bahrain, reportedly launched from Iran amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
The deceased, Md Tarek, 48, hailed from the Azimpur Pahar area of Sandwip. He died on Monday morning while working at a shipyard in Bahrain when the missile hit the area.
Family members said Tarek had been living and working in Bahrain for nearly 27 years. As the sole breadwinner of his family, he regularly sent remittances home.
His cousin, Mosharraf Hossain, Deputy Managing Director of Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital, confirmed the death.
The incident has left his hometown in mourning, with relatives and locals grieving the loss of the long-serving expatriate worker.
