Prime Minister holds consultations with experts to address the city’s traffic congestion.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday held consultations with experts on revamping the traffic management system to reduce congestion in the capital.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the morning, according to Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
“To tackle traffic congestion in Dhaka, the Honorable Prime Minister discussed plans to restructure the traffic system with experts,” Ruman said. The delegation was led by Professor Dr Md Shamsul Hoque of the Civil Engineering Department at BUET, and the Prime Minister sought their recommendations on the issue.
Earlier in the day, Ruman said, the Prime Minister arrived at the Secretariat from his Gulshan residence at 9:13am.
He also met architects to discuss renovation and development work at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. Tarique Rahman exchanged views with the architects and listened to their proposals.
In addition, the Prime Minister held separate meetings with Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher and Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram. State ministers from the respective ministries were also present.
