Proclamation of Uprising: Student Leaders Convene Following Government's Action
Shortly after the interim government announced plans to draft a proclamation for the July uprising based on national consensus, student leaders convened an emergency meeting to determine their next steps. The meeting, which began at 10:00 PM, is taking place at the headquarters of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the capital's Bangla Motor area.
“We will announce our decision after the meeting. Discussions are still ongoing,” Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the platform, told reporters.
The meeting was still in progress as of 12:40 AM.
On Sunday, December 29, the student movement announced during a press conference their intention to unveil the "July Revolution Proclamation" at Dhaka Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday afternoon, December 31.
The organization’s leaders highlighted two key points in their manifesto: the abolition of the 1972 constitution, which they referred to as the "Mujibist Constitution," and a declaration rendering the "Nazi-like Awami League" irrelevant in Bangladesh's political landscape.
