Education Ministry calls for the nationalization of Ebtedayee madrasahs

The government has decided to gradually nationalize all registered Ebtedayee madrasahs across the country.

SM Masudul Haque, Joint Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Division under the Ministry of Education, made this announcement on Tuesday afternoon, following protests by Ebtedayee madrasah teachers at Shahbagh since Sunday, calling for nationalization.

At least five individuals were injured when police broke up a group of teachers attempting to march towards the Chief Adviser’s official residence on Sunday to demand their cause. Law enforcement used water cannons and fired at least two sound grenades to disperse the protesters.
