Government Appoints New Chiefs to 12 Agencies, Boards and Corporations

The government has made fresh contractual appointments to 12 key agencies, boards and corporations under various ministries and departments.

Among the appointments, one is to the post of Additional Secretary at the Election Commission Secretariat, while the remaining 11 are Grade-2 positions, each for a one-year contractual term.

The appointments were announced through 12 separate notifications issued on Thursday (23 July) by the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration. The notifications were signed by Deputy Secretary Md Golam Rabbani.

According to the notifications, Md Salahuddin Sarker has been appointed Director General of the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation with Grade-2 status on a contractual basis.

Mohammad Rashedul Haque has been named Managing Director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), while Mohammad Mosaddak Hossain Bulbul has been appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation.

ATM Abdul Bari Dani has been appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), and Md Kamruzzaman (Kamruzzaman Dulal) has been named Executive Secretary of the Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council.

The government has also appointed Abdul Khaleque as Chairman of the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, Md Shamsuzzaman (Suruj) as Chairman of the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, Kazi Rownakul Islam (Tipu) as Managing Director of the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, Md Zakir Siddiqui as Chairman of the Bangladesh Handloom Board, Benazir Ahmed as Chairman of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and Md Mamun Hasan as Chairman of the Bangladesh Jute Corporation.

In a separate appointment, Md Shamsul Alam has been named Additional Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat on a one-year contractual basis.

The notifications state that all appointees will serve for one year from the date they assume office. During their tenure, they must refrain from engaging in any other profession, business or association with any government, semi-government or private institution or organisation.
