Death Toll in Natore Bus-Truck Collision Rises to 14

The death toll from a collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Banpara, Natore, has climbed to 14, while at least 30 others have been injured.

The accident occurred at around 4:30am on Tuesday near the Banpara Police Investigation Centre on the Natore-Pabna highway. The identities of those killed and injured could not immediately be confirmed.

Natore Deputy Commissioner Sumoni Akter confirmed the death toll at around 8:30am. Abdur Rouf, station officer of Natore Fire Service and Civil Defence, said firefighters recovered nine bodies from the accident site and transported them to the morgue at Natore Sadar Hospital.

The injured were rescued and taken to nearby clinics and hospitals, as well as Natore Sadar Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, for treatment.

Md Alamgir Hossain, sub-inspector of Banpara Highway Police Station, said nine people died at the scene, while another victim died en route to the hospital.

According to the district administration, the death toll subsequently rose to 14.
