"Amir Khasru: Total Agreement Reflects a BKSAL Mindset"

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that complete agreement among all parties on every issue related to ongoing reforms is neither necessary nor realistic.
"Those who believe everyone must agree on everything are following the BKSAL mindset — the same thinking promoted by Sheikh Hasina’s father," he told reporters after a meeting of the BNP's liaison committee at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office this afternoon. Prior to this, the BNP liaison committee had held discussions with Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho.
Amir Khasru, along with fellow Standing Committee Member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud and BNP Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, represented the BNP, while BJP Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho and Secretary General Motin Saud led a 10-member BJP delegation.
Highlighting the inevitability of differences between political parties, Amir Khasru said, "Parties will naturally have different philosophies, thoughts, and opinions. Reforms must be based on points of consensus. Beyond that, any changes should come through a democratic process and with a people’s mandate." He also questioned why the areas of agreement among the parties are not being shared publicly with the nation.
Amir Khasru added that public doubt is growing in the absence of an electoral roadmap, warning that uncertainty could harm democracy and the future electoral process. "The people must be assured with a clear roadmap toward the elections," he stressed.
Speaking on the discussions, Andaleeve Rahman Partho said the meeting focused on elections and reform issues. He too called for the interim government to provide a clear election roadmap.
Reiterating that the current government lacks the people’s mandate, Andaleeve said, "We support reforms, but meaningful reforms cannot be achieved without public endorsement, as they would not have the strength to endure."
