Forex reserves drop to $20 billion following settlement of ACU bill
Bangladesh Bank's foreign exchange reserves have fallen to $20 billion after settling the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) import bill.
The ACU payment, covering the months of November and December, amounted to $1.67 billion. Following this payment, the central bank reported that the total reserves now stand at $24.9 billion. However, when calculated using the International Monetary Fund (IMF) BPM-6 standards, the reserves are recorded at $20 billion, according to central bank spokesperson and Executive Director Husne Ara Shikha on Thursday.
