The United States Embassy in Dhaka has issued a new advisory concerning travel to the United States, warning that misuse of benefits funded by American taxpayers could affect a person’s future eligibility to travel, study, or work in the country.

The message was shared on Saturday through the embassy’s verified Facebook page.

In the advisory, the embassy urged prospective travellers to ensure they have adequate financial resources to support themselves during their stay in the United States. This includes the ability to cover unexpected expenses, such as disruptions to travel plans or medical emergencies.

“While planning your trip to the United States, make sure you have sufficient financial capacity to bear your own expenses, including any unforeseen costs that may arise during travel or in case of medical emergencies,” the message said.

The embassy also warned that misuse of benefits financed by US taxpayers could carry serious and long-term consequences.

“Abusing benefits funded by US taxpayers may lead to permanent consequences and could make you ineligible to travel to, study in, or work in the United States in the future,” the advisory added.
