The Health Minister has launched a nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign
The campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 1.8 crore children across the country.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain Bakul has officially launched a nationwide emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign to contain the ongoing outbreak, with a target of immunising around 1.8 crore children aged six to 59 months.
The programme was inaugurated at approximately 8:15am on Monday (20 April) at Little Angel Seminary in Jinda Park, Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj.
Similar launch events will be অনুষ্ঠিত across all districts, upazilas, municipalities, and city corporations, organised by local authorities and private institutions in the presence of public representatives and community leaders.
Vaccinations will be administered at both permanent and temporary centres nationwide from 8:00am on working days, except weekly holidays.
The initiative seeks to cover about 1.8 crore children across the country, including those in 30 upazilas in 18 districts and four city corporations. The first phase began on 5 April and will run until 25 April, while the second phase, which started on 12 April, is scheduled to continue until 12 May.
In addition, the special nationwide campaign launched today will continue until 20 May in city corporation areas and until 12 May elsewhere.
Earlier, the government initiated the drive on 5 April in 30 upazilas across 18 districts. In its second phase, launched on 12 April, the programme was simultaneously expanded to four major city corporations—Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Barishal, and Mymensingh.
