State TV reports Iran’s armed forces chief of staff has been killed

Iran’s armed forces chief of staff, Abdolrahim Mousavi, was killed along with several other senior commanders in US and Israeli strikes on the country, state television reported on Sunday.

State TV said Mousavi was among those killed, along with Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, Revolutionary Guards chief Mohammad Pakpour, and Defence Council head Ali Shamkhani, during Saturday’s attacks.

According to the broadcaster, they were killed “during a Defence Council meeting,” adding that additional names would be released later.
