PM directs Coast Guard to stay ready to protect national sovereignty
Commending the patriotism and professionalism of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today urged the force to remain fully prepared to protect the country’s sovereignty.
He made the remarks when Coast Guard Director General Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Hoque paid a courtesy call on him at his Cabinet Division office at the Bangladesh Secretariat, said Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism that through continued professionalism, the Coast Guard would further strengthen its role as a vigilant guardian of the nation’s maritime frontiers.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Coast Guard chief exchanged greetings. During the discussion, Tarique Rahman acknowledged the force’s dedicated efforts, noting its significant contribution to maintaining peace and security in coastal and riverine areas.
He also directed the Coast Guard to sustain its people-centric activities, especially in disaster management, for the greater public good.
The Director General briefed the Prime Minister on the force’s ongoing development initiatives. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, the Prime Minister assured that efforts to modernize and enhance the capabilities of the Coast Guard would continue.
