Four Bangladeshis killed in road crash in Saudi Arabia

At least four Bangladeshi nationals, including the driver, were killed in a road accident while travelling from Taif to Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia.

The accident took place at around 2:00pm local time on Monday (7 September) on the Al-Khurma highway in Taif.

According to local sources and Bangladeshi expatriates, all four victims hailed from Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet.

Two of the victims have initially been identified as Karim Uddin and Khalid Mia, while the identities of the other two remain unknown.

The four Bangladeshis were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in reportedly lost control while heading towards the airport.

The tragic incident has cast a pall of grief over the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Saudi Arabia, with mourning also spreading in their hometown.

Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh and the local consulate are working to complete the required legal formalities and facilitate the repatriation of the victims’ bodies to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
