Chief Adviser Prof Yunus Arrives in Doha for Earthna Summit and High-Level Engagements

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has arrived in Doha, Qatar, to participate in the Earthna Summit 2025 and attend a series of high-level meetings and events.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md. Nazrul Islam welcomed Prof Yunus at Hamad International Airport at approximately 9:40 pm (Doha time) on Monday. He traveled via a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, according to Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

Prof Yunus departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:00 pm (Dhaka time) for the four-day official visit, which comes at the invitation of Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Briefing the media at the Foreign Service Academy, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that Prof Yunus will have a packed schedule on April 22 and 23, including delivering a speech at the Earthna Summit 2025 and participating in a range of bilateral and multilateral meetings.

During the visit, Prof Yunus is expected to meet with the Amir of Qatar, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed, and senior officials from Qatar Charity and Qatar Foundation. He is also scheduled to give an interview to Al Jazeera.

Energy cooperation is expected to be a key topic of discussion, given the long-term LNG agreement between Bangladesh and Qatar. Prof Yunus will also attend an investment summit on April 23 and address a conference on the Rohingya crisis, where international stakeholders will be present.

Accompanying the Chief Adviser are Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and SDG Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed.

Prof Yunus is scheduled to return to Dhaka in the early hours of April 25.
