Police raid a flat in Chattogram in search of Obaidul Quader
Detain his brother-in-law, then release him after questioning.
Police raided a flat in the Agrabad area of Chattogram city on Saturday night, suspecting the presence of the absconding former road transport minister, Obaidul Quader.
After failing to find Quader, the police detained his 70-year-old brother-in-law, Nurul Huda Babu, from the flat and took him to the Kotwali police station in the port city, according to sources from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rois Uddin of the CMP stated that a case related to attacks on the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement had been filed at the Kotwali police station. Nurul Huda was named as an accused in the case, though without an address or further details.
Following the information, the police detained Nurul Huda, a businessman, from the Agrabad flat on Saturday night. However, after investigation and questioning, it was determined that Huda was not involved in the incident. Additionally, there were no other cases against him, the DC clarified.
Huda was subsequently released into the custody of his family members on Sunday afternoon, according to DC Rois.
