Home Adviser: Border Situation Now Peaceful
Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated today that the situation at the border has largely returned to normal, as the construction of the barbed wire fencing has been halted.
“There is no tension at the border now,” he remarked in response to a question following a view exchange meeting with divisional officers in Mymensingh.
The Home Adviser further mentioned that a Director General (DG) level meeting between the border forces of Bangladesh and India is scheduled for next month. “These issues will be addressed at the DG-level BGB-BSF meeting,” he added.
Jahangir also highlighted that some unequal agreements were signed between the two neighboring countries in the past. He noted that a letter has already been sent regarding these agreements, and discussions will focus on addressing the issues that arose from these imbalanced arrangements.
