The government has set a procurement target of 18.1 lakh tonnes of food grains.
The government has set procurement prices and collection targets for paddy, rice, and wheat for the ongoing Boro season.
The decision was finalised at a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday, chaired by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Information Department after the meeting, he said the procurement price of Boro paddy has been fixed at Tk36 per kg, unchanged from the previous season. The price of parboiled rice has been set at Tk49 per kg, while non-parboiled (Atap) rice will be procured at Tk48 per kg. Wheat will also be purchased at Tk36 per kg.
He added that the total procurement target for paddy and food grains during the current Boro season has been set at 18.1 lakh metric tonnes. This includes 500,000 tonnes of Boro paddy, 1.2 million tonnes of parboiled rice, and 100,000 tonnes of Atap rice. Additionally, the wheat procurement target has been fixed at 5,000 tonnes.
