Teacher recruitment process to start soon: Education minister
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Wednesday said the government will soon launch the teacher recruitment process.
“Recruitment and postings had remained stalled due to various complexities during the previous government’s tenure. The process will begin very soon,” he said.
He made the remarks at a views-exchange meeting with centre secretaries for the SSC and equivalent examinations-2026. The event was organised by the Sylhet Education Board, along with madrasa and technical education boards of the region, at the Jalalabad Gas Auditorium in Sylhet city.
The minister noted that the prime minister has already announced plans to raise education sector allocation to 5% of GDP. He added that the government is also planning to build multipurpose examination centres in every upazila.
He said necessary measures would be taken to improve the overall education sector, adding that the government is addressing teachers’ problems in phases. He also mentioned that English medium institutions are being brought under stricter accountability.
Milon further said that 18 educational institutions affected by the Sylhet-Dhaka highway six-lane project would be relocated on an urgent basis.
Members of parliament from various constituencies in Sylhet, along with teachers from sadar and upazila levels, attended the meeting and highlighted key challenges facing the region’s education system.
