Rania Sobhan Appointed Director at SBG
Rania Sobhan has been appointed as the youngest director of Safwan Bashundhara Global (SBG), taking on the role on her 18th birthday.
To mark the occasion, SBG officials and employees hosted a reception for her at the company's headquarters in the Bashundhara Residential Area of the capital on Thursday.
During the event, colleagues extended their best wishes for her future, expressing confidence in her ability to contribute through visionary leadership, innovation and excellence.
Rania celebrated the milestone by cutting a cake. Her appointment was formally announced by SBG Chairman and Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan in the presence of SBG Vice Chairman and Bashundhara Group Director Yeasha Sobhan and their son, Shehzad Akbar Sobhan.
Addressing the gathering, Safwan Sobhan noted that the day marked several significant milestones for Rania.
“Today is Rania’s birthday and also the day she graduates from school. She has become a director as well. Alhamdulillah, she has been accepted to study Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King's College London, where she will pursue her undergraduate degree. Please keep her in your prayers,” he said.
King’s College London is ranked 31st in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and is widely recognised for its strengths in the humanities, social sciences and creative disciplines.
Rania also received admission offers from Royal Holloway, University of London and Queen Mary University of London.
Speaking after assuming her new role, Rania said, “I am excited to begin this new journey.”
On her decision to study at King’s College London, she added, “I had been aiming for this university for quite some time, and Alhamdulillah, I have secured a place there.”
