Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday reaffirmed the government's commitment to transforming Bangladesh into a $1 trillion economy by 2034, saying efforts to achieve the target are already in motion.

"We are determined to build a $1 trillion economy by 2034, and work towards achieving this goal is already underway," he said.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while addressing the day-long international FICCI FDI Conference 2026: Driving Foreign Investment for Jobs and Prosperity in Bangladesh at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in Dhaka.

Highlighting the country's potential, Rahman said Bangladesh has the resilience to overcome its challenges and stressed the need for safe and secure foreign investment to support long-term economic growth.

He said the government is streamlining tax and VAT procedures to make the country more attractive to foreign investors and foster a business-friendly climate.

"Bangladesh seeks sustainable and long-term foreign investment. We want to work together," he said.

The Prime Minister added that the government is addressing key economic challenges while ensuring a stable and conducive environment for business. As part of its investment agenda, the government is simplifying tax and VAT systems, digitising public services and strengthening investor security to further improve the ease of doing business in Bangladesh.
