PM Attends FICCI FDI Conference as Government Pushes to Strengthen Investment Climate
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday attended the FICCI FDI Conference 2026, reaffirming the government's commitment to attracting higher levels of foreign direct investment (FDI) to generate employment and drive economic growth.
The day-long conference, titled "FICCI FDI Conference 2026: Driving Foreign Investment for Jobs and Prosperity in Bangladesh," opened at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in Dhaka.
Ahead of the formal inauguration, the Prime Minister toured the Investors' Expo, where he met representatives from participating companies and organisations.
Organised by the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the conference comes as Bangladesh prepares for its graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category and intensifies efforts to attract more foreign investment.
Organisers said stronger collaboration between investors and policymakers is crucial to improving the country's investment climate and maintaining economic momentum in the post-LDC era.
The event has brought together around 600 participants from Bangladesh and abroad, including senior government officials, policymakers, regulators, diplomats, development partners, multinational company executives, foreign and local investors, business leaders and media representatives.
Discussions are centred on improving Bangladesh's investment environment, enhancing competitiveness, simplifying the ease of doing business, and addressing the opportunities and challenges of attracting increased FDI.
During the conference, FICCI unveiled its FDI Report, featuring analysis, key findings and policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the investment climate and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The conference also highlights the significant role of foreign investors in Bangladesh's economy, examines the challenges faced by multinational companies, and stresses the need for policy reforms to foster a more business-friendly and investment-friendly environment.
