Bangladesh Extends Passport Correction Deadline for Expatriates Until 31 December
The government has extended by six months the deadline for Bangladeshi expatriates to correct personal information in their passports, allowing them to apply for the issuance or reissuance of passports with updated details until 31 December 2026.
The extension was announced in a notification issued by the Expatriation-4 Wing of the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nuruzzaman.
According to the notification, the government decided to keep its previous directive in force for another six months to ensure the uninterrupted provision of passport services for Bangladeshi expatriates and to serve the public interest.
The extended deadline allows overseas Bangladeshis to correct information such as their name, date of birth, parents' names, or other personal details when applying for a new passport or renewing an existing one.
The Ministry of Home Affairs noted that its earlier order, issued on 8 July 2025, remained effective until 30 June 2026.
With the latest extension, expatriates will now have until 31 December 2026 to complete passport corrections.
