Dipen Dewan Steps Down from Ministerial Post Due to Health Issues
Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister, citing health-related complications that have affected his ability to carry out official duties.
The information was confirmed by Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
In his resignation letter, dated June 1, 2026, and addressed to the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Dewan said he has been suffering from various health issues since taking office. He noted that the persistent health problems have made it increasingly difficult for him to effectively discharge his responsibilities and perform routine ministerial functions.
The minister stated that, in the interest of maintaining efficiency and continuity in government administration and development activities, it would be appropriate for him to step down from his current position.
He therefore requested that his resignation as Minister of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry be accepted.
Apart from serving as a cabinet minister, Dipen Dewan is also a Member of Parliament representing Rangamati Hill District.
