According to the duty officer at Dhaka Railway Police Station, the train had just begun its journey when it went off the tracks.

Earlier that same day, another train derailment took place at around 7:30 am. A Narayanganj-bound commuter train derailed in Gopibagh, also shortly after leaving Kamalapur. The derailment disrupted train services, particularly to Khulna, for about five hours as recovery operations were underway.

The derailment of the Panchagarh Express in the middle of the night left passengers in distress, as they were stranded due to the unexpected incident. While authorities worked to resolve the situation, passengers faced delays and uncertainty.
