Khalilur Rahman Receives Congratulations from US Ambassador Christensen over Bangladesh’s UNGA Presidency

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen has congratulated Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, Ambassador Christensen said, “Congratulations, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, on your election as President of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.”

Khalilur Rahman’s election to the prestigious post is being regarded as a major diplomatic milestone for Bangladesh, underscoring the country’s growing influence and active engagement in global affairs.

As President of the UN General Assembly, Rahman will oversee the proceedings of the UN’s principal deliberative body, guide discussions on key global issues, and foster cooperation among member states.

A total of 190 votes were cast in the election, with Bangladesh securing 99 votes, while Cyprus received 91.
