FIFA World Cup Matches Set for Broadcast on BTV, T-Sports, Somoy TV
Football fans in Bangladesh will be able to watch every match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on television after uncertainty surrounding the tournament's broadcasting rights was resolved.
All matches will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television (BTV), T-Sports and Somoy TV, following a deal under which the three broadcasters jointly acquired the rights from FIFA.
The broadcasting rights for Bangladesh were initially held by Singapore-based Springbok Private Limited. However, the company pulled out after failing to sell the rights within the local market, leaving the country without an official broadcaster less than two weeks before the tournament begins.
The deadlock was eventually broken through efforts led by State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury and Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal.
They are reported to have worked closely with sports broadcasters, national television networks, telecom operators and several OTT platforms to reach a solution, while also exploring alternative revenue opportunities through digital and telecommunications sectors.
