AFC Women's Asian Cup: Chinese Taipei women's national football team edge past Vietnam women's national football team 1–0.
Chinese Taipei women's national football team resisted a late surge from Vietnam women's national football team to claim a 1–0 win and register their first victory of the AFC Women's Asian Cup in Perth on Saturday.
Su Yu-hsuan put the three-time Asian champions ahead with a first-half header, though both teams struggled to build fluid attacks before the interval.
Vietnam, who reached the quarter-finals in the previous edition, managed nine attempts on goal but failed to register a shot on target. Taiwan, meanwhile, stayed disciplined in defence to protect their lead.
A late VAR review for a potential Vietnamese penalty did not result in a decision. The win lifted Taiwan provisionally to second place in Group C with three points, while India women's national football team and Japan women's national football team were set to face off later in the day.
