The age limit for entering government jobs is likely to be raised, as the review committee tasked with recommending a new maximum age for public service entry has submitted its report to the government. The committee has proposed setting the age limit at 35 years for men and 37 years for women, according to sources.

The review committee, led by Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, head of the Public Administration Reform Commission, was formed on September 30 to assess the current age restrictions. They submitted their recommendations to the government a week later.

In their proposal, the committee suggested raising the maximum age for male applicants to 35 and for female applicants to 37, considering factors like the country's education system, examination processes, and employment opportunities.

A final decision is expected to be made during a meeting of the advisory council. However, the committee has recommended keeping the retirement age at 59 years.

For nearly a decade, there has been ongoing public demand to raise the age limit for government job entry, with various movements advocating for the change. Currently, the age limit is 30 years, and 32 years for the children of freedom fighters.
