Khaleda Zia to receive “Best Indomitable Woman in Advancing Democracy” award
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs will honour Khaleda Zia with the “Best Indomitable Woman in Advancing Democracy (Gonotantra er Ogrojatray Sreshtho Odommo Nari)” award.
She will receive the recognition under the Indomitable Women Award programme marking International Women's Day 2026.
The award will be presented at a ceremony scheduled for March 8 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.
Khaleda Zia is being recognised for her steadfast leadership in the restoration of democracy through uncompromising struggle and for her significant contributions to strengthening the country’s democratic process.
In addition, five other women will be honoured as “Best Indomitable Women (Sreshtho Odommo Nari)” in five separate categories this year.
Among them, Nurun Nahar Akter will receive the award in the economic success category, while Most. Bobita Khatun will be honoured for education and employment. Nurbanu Kabir will be recognised as a successful mother.
Most. Shamla Begum will receive the award for overcoming the trauma of violence and achieving success in life, while Most. Afroza Yasmin will be honoured for her outstanding contributions to social development.
