The BNP leader slams Jamaat during a memorial event in Bagmara
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has accused Jamaat-e-Islami of nothing but "hypocrisy."

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has accused Jamaat-e-Islami of nothing but "hypocrisy." He stated, "BNP has never supported Jamaat-e-Islami. It was Sheikh Mujib’s government that banned Jamaat. It was only during the BNP’s tenure that they were allowed to engage in politics in this country."
He continued, "But we have always seen that this party has no other agenda. Its only characteristic is hypocrisy." Rizvi emphasized, “Apart from hypocrisy, Jamaat has done nothing.”
He made these comments on Wednesday afternoon at a memorial event for Abdul Wahed Mondal at the Taherpur High School field in Bagmara Upazila, Rajshahi. The event was organized by the Taherpur municipality BNP to mark the 23rd death anniversary of Wahed.
Referring to recent political movements, Rizvi said, “The blood-soaked movement of students and people, where countless young men like Abu Sayed and Mugdho [Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho] sacrificed their lives, drove out a ‘dangerous monster’ like Sheikh Hasina from the country."
“But just a few days later, Jamaat suddenly announced they would forgive everything about the Awami League. How can you forgive the blood of Abu Sayed? How can you forgive the blood of Mugdho? How can you forgive the blood of Ahnaf?”
Rizvi also criticized Jamaat’s stance on India, stating, “India supported Sheikh Hasina with a dangerous agenda and continues to do so. If India is now Jamaat’s favorite, that is extremely unfortunate and deeply regrettable.”
The BNP leader accused Hasina of corruption, claiming, “She built the Padma Bridge and metro rail only to embezzle money. Her bribery policy led to the purchase of electricity from Adani at inflated prices."
“She has given India everything it wanted. She tried to sell out the country’s independence and sovereignty, but was forced to surrender to the unity of students and the people,” Rizvi concluded.
