Teacher Candidates: Police Use Water Cannons and Batons to Disperse Protesters
This afternoon, in front of Shikkha Bhaban, police used batons, water cannons, tear gas shells, and sound grenades to disperse protesters demanding the reinstatement of 6,531 assistant teacher appointments in government primary schools.

Around 4:00 pm, law enforcers took action, leaving many injured. However, despite the police crackdown, the protesters remained on the road.
The demonstration began at 9:00 am in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh, where teachers from various parts of the country had gathered. At around 3:30 pm, they marched towards the Secretariat, but police intercepted them in front of Shikkha Bhaban, according to reports from our photojournalist on the scene.
Sanjeedul Alam, a teacher from Tangail, stated that police baton-charged the male protesters at that point, while female demonstrators were targeted with water cannons as they attempted to move forward.
Despite the police intervention, many protesters regrouped near the High Court around 4:35 pm, said Abdullah Al Mamun, another protester. This marks the 11th consecutive day of their demonstration, as they demand the cancellation of the High Court order that annulled their recruitment. Protesters have traveled from different parts of the country, with some even bringing their children along.
